Convenient Government services for Inala and Goodna

Inala and Goodna residents will have the benefit of Centrelink and Medicare services located under the one roof from Monday 25 May.

All staff and Medicare services from Mt Ommaney Medicare will relocate from the current service centre at 171 Dandenong Rd, to the existing Inala Centrelink Service Centre located at 14 Wirraway Parade and the Goodna Centrelink Service Centre located at 1 William Street.

Department of Human Services General Manager Hank Jongen said having government services co-located provides more convenience for local residents.

“There has been a significant decrease in demand for face-to-face Medicare services at Mt Ommaney as people take up other claiming options, such as claiming at the doctors’ surgery,” Mr Jongen said.

“Nationally, more than 91 per cent of all patient-claimed GP services are now being claimed electronically at the source, and the best way to claim your Medicare rebate is directly at the doctor.

“This means that for many people there is no need to visit a service centre on a regular basis.

“Customers can access our self-service facilities at both locations, where they can manage their government business themselves, over the phone or online.

“Our friendly staff can show customers how to save time and use these self-service facilities, including signing up to myGov, which allows people to access their Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support information, and eHealth records using one login and password.

“There are several ways for people to do their government business when and where they choose, such as by using Express Plus mobile apps.”

Mr Jongen said Inala and Goodna will join almost 180 Australian communities who have access to Medicare and Centrelink one-stop shops.

“With a number of public transport and parking options at each location, customers can choose which Service Centre is most convenient for them,” Mr Jongen said.

Inala Service Centre located at 14 Wirraway Parade and Goodna’s Service Centre located at 1 William Street will both be open Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
