Michael Brown is a regular at the free Financial Information Service (FIS) seminars in Canberra.
He has rarely missed a seminar in the past two years, and it’s not because he hasn’t learnt about investing, superannuation or managing your money.
In fact, Michael is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), but at each FIS seminar he learns something new.
‘The information is always up-to-date and I learn so much from these seminars,’ Michael says. ‘They’re brilliant!’
While Michael can advise his clients about many financial aspects, he says the FIS Officers have a handle on the whole area; from superannuation and investment to aged care and pensions. He has high praise for the hosts.
‘Karl and Ashley, are really informative and very friendly,’ he said.
Michael has been urging his CPA colleagues to come along to keep up to date with all the latest changes in Social Security policy, like the assets test free area and the assets taper rate increase happening for pensions from 1 January 2017.
At the ‘Understanding Superannuation’ seminar he attended in August, Michael was pleased to learn that pension recipients who might lose their pension due to these changes would keep a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card.
‘Understanding Superannuation’ is just one of the FIS seminars about planning for your financial future. Other seminars include; getting ready for retirement, living in retirement and general financial topics like borrowing to invest, choosing a financial planner, aged care and redundancies.
The free public seminars are held in comfortable locations in all states and territories with tea, coffee and biscuits provided. Find a seminar near you.
